COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS & FAQS
DO I NEED TO HIRE A PEST CONTROL PROVIDER OR CAN I DO IT?
This is a common question people ask themselves when they encounter a pest issue on the interior or exterior of their property. It really comes down to what type of pest, how large the infestation is, what your pest thresh-hold is, and how much money your willing to spend. The average insect spray goes for $200 – $275+ and carries a 90 day guarantee. For larger infestations its always recommended you hire a Local Pest Control Exterminator.
WHATS THAT SMELL AFTER MY INSECT TREATMENT?
Depending on what chemical was used there could be a faint smell left in the house after treatment. DON’T WORRY! This smell will dissipate and is almost always gone after a few hours, most of the low toxicity chemicals we use are virtually odorless and wont be noticeable. However, if you do return home after our recommended re-entry period and the smell is still present, open a few windows to ventilate or come back in 1-2 hours. For any questions regarding the chemicals we use don’t hesitate to contact us directly!
I HAVE BED BUGS, NOW WHAT?
Bed Bugs are not fun to find, or something a homeowner likes to deal with. If you find Bed Bugs inside your home or property contact us today and one of our trained pest control Calgary technicians would love to help you out. The most important thing is to not spray any domestic chemicals you can purchase from local hardware stores, this will likely only spread the current infestation.
DO YOU OFFER A GUARANTEE?
Most pest control treatments and services done by a reputable exterminator should carry at minimum a 90 day guarantee. This is industry standard regardless of what any other pest control company says. If your pest control provider charges per visit or is below the industry standard regarding their pest guarantee, this should be a red flag. You want a service that gets the job done right, effectively, and safely. If your pest returns within the 90 day period, Spartan Pest Control will treat for free, there are no hidden costs or fees, just amazing service with amazing results.
ARE CHEMICALS SAFE FOR PETS AND KIDS?
Yes, if the company you hire to treat your Calgary or Edmonton pest control problems has the knowledge and resources to apply the chemical in a safe and effective manor. Spartan Pest Control is constantly training our technicians and offering resources and tools to provide amazing customer service and results. We ask that for new born babies, pregnant females, and seniors that they contact their family doctor before the chemical is applied. In almost all cases the doctor allows for normal re-entry times, but in some cases depending on underlining health concerns the doctor may change the time from 4 hours to 8, and possibly 24. The chemicals we use are extremely safe for you and your family! Interior and Exterior rodent bait stations are to be kept away from both children and pets to eliminate the chance of non-target poisoning. Spartan Pest Control will not be held liable if stations are moved from their initial location or children & pets are left unsupervised around bait stations.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY OUT OF MY HOUSE OR PROPERTY?
The recommended wait time for our clients to return is typically 4 hours from the time the treatment has been completed. This means if the treatment will take 1 hour, you technician will recommend a re-entry time of 5 hours from the time you leave the house. Before the treatment begins you will be given a clear outline regarding the chemicals used, entry time, active ingredient and more.
I FOUND MOUSE POOP... WHAT NOW?
Mouse droppings can not only cause lung infections, allergic reactions, pneumonia, asthma and more, but can also be the carrier of the well known HANTAVIRUS which has a mortality rate between 40% and 50%. When cleaning mouse droppings it’s EXTREMELY important not to vacuum or sweep the area. Use any type of disinfectant that kill 99% of germs & bacteria (We like bleach) and saturate the area. We recommend you open a near by window for proper ventilation and wear gloves and disposable mask. After 10-15 minutes, slowly wipe up the droppings with paper towel and dispose of everything directly outside, repeat the process and monitor for activity. Click on this link How To Clean Mouse Droppings Properly and follow the instructions, it will explain in great detail what to do, and what not to do during mouse clean ups and sanitation.
WHAT ARE THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF THE HANTAVIRUS?
Early symptoms and conditions of the Hantavirus include fever, muscle aches and pains around the hips and back, fatigue and weakness of the body. Other symptoms may include dizziness, diarrhea, pain in the abdomen, nausea, and chills. If you experience any of these issues after being exposed to mouse droppings contact your family doctor immediately, especially if you have kids or seniors in the property as they are more likely to have complications due to their immune systems.
MY HOUSE WAS JUST SPRAYED, NOW WHAT?
After all chemical applications we ask that you do not mop the sprayed areas or apply any water diluting the active ingredient resulting in a non-effective treatment. This also includes watering the grass, washing windows, or any other exterior water applications. The chemical we apply has a residual effect that will continue to work 1-2 weeks after the initial treatment.
HOW DO I KEEP MICE FROM ENTERING MY HOME?
Mouse Control can be made easy, or complicated. Mice are EXTREMELY SMALL animals and can fit through holes and gaps 1/4 of an inch small. Since they are very effective climbers and fit through such tiny holes, complete exclusion is often not 100% possible. Obvious openings and potential entry points should be fixed, especially if during winter or just before hand – check out our gallery of Mouse Entry Points.
